About Smiths Aerospace

Smiths Aerospace, now operating as GE Aviation Systems, is a United States manufacturer of aircraft engines and aircraft parts. First established in 1963, Smiths Aerospace initially served as a supplier for a wide customer base and as a business unit of Smiths Group plc. In 2007, General Electric began the process of acquiring Smiths Aerospace, and the deal was completed later that year. As such, Smiths Aerospace became a subsidiary operating under GE Aviation, and they were rebranded as GE Aviation Systems. With the newly acquired company, GE Aviation could then compete against many of their top rivals in the aerospace market. In the present, Smiths Aerospace, as GE Aviation Systems, continues to design and manufacture mechanical systems, engine components, electronic systems, and much more.
