About McCauley Propeller
McCauley Aviation Corporation was founded in 1938 by Earnest G. McCauley in Vandalia, Ohio. McCauley primarily manufactures propellers for light and homebuilt aircraft, and is FAA certified as original equipment for aircraft built by Cessna, Fairchild, Hawker Beechcraft, Piper, Jetstream, and others. McCauley is notable for having invented the ground-adjustable solid-steel propeller in 1941, and the forged aluminum propeller in 1946. McCauley is also notable in its advances in de-icing systems, such as an alcohol-based dei-ice system in 1960, and using electricity in de-ice systems in 1967. In 2006, McCauley expanded into the unmanned aerial vehicle market, and delivered its first Predator B propeller to General Atomics. Currently located in Wichita, Kansas, McCauley was previously owned by Cessna, which is now a subsidiary of Textron, and is therefore owned by Textron as well.
Products, Services, and Platforms
Products
-
Aircraft propellers: McCauley's primary products are aircraft propellers. McCauley manufactures propellers with three, four, and five blades, and can come in different configurations including constant-speed, fixed-pitch, and full-feathering designs.
-
Aircraft de-ice systems: This division includes a selection of electrically-powered and fluid-based de-ice systems that prevent ice from forming on an aircraft's surface and impeding performance.
-
Aircraft spinners: Spinners reduce drag by streamlining dragflow, improving engine cooling and ram-air induction. McCauley spinners are available in both natural and polished aluminum.
-
Aircraft governors and control systems: McCauley-manufactured governors and control systems manage blade angles and engine speed, maintaining RPM stability and improving performance and durability. Control systems include synchronizers, synchrophasors, and accumulators.
