About Eaton Corporation
Eaton Corporation is an American-Irish conglomerate that primarily focuses on power management. With headquarters located in both the United States and Ireland, Eaton Corporation employs over 92,000 individuals across the globe in order to conduct business in more than 175 countries. With expertise in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical power, Eaton Corporation ensures the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of such operations for their customers.
Eaton Corporation traces its history back to the incorporation of Torbensen Gear and Axle Co. in 1911. Situated in Bloomfield, New Jersey, the company used financial backing from family in order to begin producing internal-gear truck axles. As the automotive market began to expand in its early years, the company moved to Cleveland, Ohio in order to locate themselves closer to the core of the industry.
In 1916, Torbensen Axle Company was incorporated as a successor to Torbensen Gear and Axle Co., and the company was bought out a year later by Republic Motor Truck Company. Two of the founders, Eaton and Torbensen, soon left the company after its acquisition to create Eaton Axle Company in 1919. In the following year, Eaton Axle Company merged with Standard Parts, and the company later bought back Torbensen Axle Co. to create Eaton Axle and Spring Company.
Leading into the present, Eaton focused on the expansion of their operations, establishing a foreign market presence in Canada and other countries. Furthermore, Eaton acquired a variety of businesses over the years to advance their capabilities, including entities such as Fuller Manufacturing, Yale & Towne Manufacturing Co., Samuel Moore & Company, Kenway Systems, and Cutler-Hammer. In the present, Eaton continues to manufacture a number of products that pertain to electrical and industrial sectors.
