About EADS CASA

EADS CASA, now known as Airbus Defense and Space, is the company resulting from a series of mergers of major European aerospace and defense manufacturers since the late 1990s. CASA (Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA) began in 1923 as a licensed manufacturer of Breguet aircraft. In 1999, the company was purchased by European Aeronautic Defense and Space (EADS) and the two became EADS CASA. In 2009, Airbus united all its brands under the Airbus name, changing EADS CASA to Airbus Military. In 2014, Airbus Military merged with Astrium and Cassidian to become Airbus Defense and Space, the name under which it still operates today.

Airbus Defense and Space is responsible for Airbus’ defense and aerospace products and services, as well as certain ventures in telecommunications and electronics. The company is based in Ottobrunn, Germany, and has four programs: Military Aircraft, Space Systems, Communication-Intelligence-Security, and Unmanned Aerial Systems. The company has a presence in more than 30 countries and employs over 40,000 people. It is the world's second largest space company after Boeing and one of the top ten defence companies in the world.
